We combine mass-spectrometry proteomics and chemical biology to study posttranslational modifications. We are especially interested in protein long-chain S-acylation (S-palmitoylation), a reversible lipid posttranslational modification that is thought to target about 15% of the human proteome. We are developing methods to study the scope and enzymatic regulation of this PTM with a main focus on the role of this PTM in neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
